Uncovering Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn in Joker 2, Todd Phillips has released a fresh set of photos. She will be portraying the character for his DC seequel.
The movie will follow Harley’s classic origin as an Arkham Asylum shrink who falls in love with Arthur Fleck (aka Joker). Additionally, it will be a musical.
1. Lady Gaga in a more standard outfit
New Joker 2 set photos have surfaced, offering us a closer look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. These shots show her wearing an everyday outfit, suggesting she may have a more straightforward role in the film.
Gaga has always taken fashion risks, but her daring style has reached new heights since the release of her debut album. With lyrics like “Baby, you were born this way,” Gaga has made it her mission to challenge societal beauty standards.
At one of her earliest performances in 2007, she donned a dress covered in mirrors and glitter as well as neon pink pumps. For the 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards, however, she donned a skin-colored leotard embellished with plastic spheres that looked like bubbles.
Her most controversial outfit to date was a dress and shoes made of raw meat at the 2010 VMAs, which she later revealed was part of an effort to protest US President Barack Obama’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” military policy.

2. Gaga’s hair is a lot longer
One new set photo from the Joker 2 set offers a closer look at Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn. As introduced in the original movie, her character has an uneasy relationship with The Joker and it appears she may be returning to Arkham Asylum once more.
Unfortunately, the only glimpse we had of her character on set was a close-up shot with Joaquin Phoenix. Unfortunately, that shot was too close for us to get an accurate representation of her features.
Director Todd Phillips recently shared a better image of Lady Gaga on the set of Joker 2. This photo depicts her wearing her iconic Harley Quinn costume, and it’s much clearer than the last one we saw.
3. Gaga’s face is a lot darker
Online, new photos have emerged that offer an improved view of Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn character. It differs significantly from the one previously shared.
Gaga has donned darker skin than usual for her role as Harley Quinn, though this won’t be her first time portraying the character. This will also mark Gaga’s first live-action Harley Quinn portrayal.
Joker 2 has begun filming in Los Angeles, and we can only speculate as to what’s coming next. Officially titled Joker: Folie A Deux, the sequel will hit theaters October 2024.
Though we don’t know much about the plotline for this film yet, it is expected to be a musical. Additionally, some predict it will be more gritty than its predecessor.
4. Gaga’s eyes are a lot bigger
Finally, the first set photos for Joker 2 have been released, giving fans a closer look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in the upcoming DC Elseworlds sequel. This follows on from Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar-winning performance as Joker in 2011, which grossed an incredible $1 billion worldwide.
In the photo above, Gaga is wearing her hair down and looking much more confident than when she filmed her Bad Romance video. Furthermore, her eyes appear larger than they did in that clip.
This illusion is achieved with white eyeliner in her inner waterline, an age-old trick many women use to make their eyes appear larger.
