Introduction
The wellness industry is expected to grow by 10% per year over the next decade. It’s a $2 trillion market, and it’s not just about treatments for existing health problems it includes prevention strategies as well. The wellness industry is also growing because more people are seeking alternative therapies or looking at ways to manage their stress at work. With that growth comes new opportunities for new products and services. Here are some predictions I have for the industry in 2023:
Technology will be a Bigger Part of the Wellness Industry
The wellness industry is already using technology to track fitness and health. Smartphones have become an essential tool for tracking your daily activity, including steps taken and calories burned. Wearables are another way to measure progress in your health goals, such as blood pressure or heart rate measurements from a wristband or device that clips on your shirt collar.
You may also be interested in smart home devices that can help you monitor your overall well-being by taking temperature readings from sensors built into light fixtures (or even doorbells) around the house; then there are smart mirrors that use facial recognition software so you can check on yourself without having to get up off the couch!
Wellness at Work will Become more Important
The wellness industry will continue to grow and expand in the coming years. While there are still many employers who do not offer any type of wellness program, this is changing rapidly. In fact, according to a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), nearly 90% of companies surveyed offered some type of employee-centered health promotion or disease management programs at work. Additionally, over half (54%) reported having one or more employees who were enrolled in their company’s wellness program as part of their employment agreement; and another 56% had no restrictions on participation in these types of programs.
Alternative Therapies like Ayurveda will be More Common
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system that focuses on the mind and body, rather than just the physical. It’s a holistic approach to wellness that encourages self-care. The goal of Ayurveda is balancing, which can be achieved through diet and exercise as well as meditation or yoga.
In 2023, we will see more alternative therapies like Ayurveda become part of our everyday lives. This may come from having more access to these types of treatments but also because people are starting to realize what they can do for themselves when it comes to managing their health!

More Emphasis on Mental Health
Mental health is a growing concern for Americans, and the wellness industry has been paying attention. In fact, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), mental illness is the most common disease in America. According to NIMH statistics, nearly one-third of Americans will experience at least one serious mental illness during their lifetime and many more people struggle with milder forms of stress or anxiety every day without ever seeking help. As awareness grows about what it means to be well-loved and cared for on all levels—physical, emotional, and spiritual more people are seeking help for mental health issues like depression or anxiety disorders than ever before.
The Cost of Alternative Treatments may Decrease
As the cost of alternative treatments becomes more accessible, it may become more commonplace to seek out inexpensive alternatives. We could be seeing a shift in how popular these types of practices are becoming.
We’re seeing more people looking for cheaper options and fewer people asking for conventional medicine when they’re sick or injured.
More Alternative Therapies are Getting Scientific Backing
It’s not just that there are more alternative therapies out there than ever before. The number of studies being done on the effectiveness and safety of these treatments is also increasing.
For example, in 2017, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) announced plans to fund research into a wide range of alternative practices, including yoga and tai chi. This funding comes from an amendment to the Affordable Care Act that allows states to cover services like acupuncture and massage therapy as part of their Medicaid programs a move designed to boost access for low-income patients who might otherwise be unable to get treatment at an affordable price point.
Wellness Centers will Grow in Popularity
Wellness centers are a great way to stay healthy and fit. They offer a wide range of services, including massage that can help you feel better about yourself.
The popularity of wellness centers is growing because people want easy access to the kind of care, they need without having to travel far or spend any money on it. Wellness centers have also become more common in cities like New York City where there aren’t as many doctors or hospitals nearby so people may have trouble finding someone who will take care of them when they need it most or even at all!

People are Looking for Experiences, not just Products
In this new era of wellness, people are looking for experiences rather than just products. They want to feel better and be healthier, live longer, live better, and be happier. They want to be more productive at work and creative with their hobbies. And they’re willing to pay for it!
Society is Moving toward a more Self-care-oriented Mindset
In the past, people have been taught to seek out medical care when they feel ill. But now, more people are turning to self-care as a way of maintaining physical and mental health. This can be as simple as taking a walk outside or getting massages at the spa or it could be something more complex like going on vacation with a friend who has chronic pain from an injury or illness.
Conclusion
We’re in a unique time when the wellness industry has grown so quickly and there are so many new opportunities. We can expect that 2019 will be another year of growth for the industry, but what does this mean for you? Wellness doesn’t need to be expensive or difficult you just need to make it part of your daily life!
